Mugu Peak Trail head is located 17 miles north of Kanan, on PCH. If you head north on the 101, exit Kanan and head towards the ocean (west/"over the hill").
When you get to the coast (PCH), make a right turn (north-ish), and drive.
I would suggest setting your odometer so you'll know when 17 miles is almost upon you.
You will pass Leo Carillo, Point Mugu, and Thornhill Broome...keep going.
About 3 miles after you pass Thornhill Broom, (the campground on the sand on your left when you are heading north on the coast) start looking for a "turn out" on your right...
The "turn out" comes around the same time that the road signs start to tell you to merge back to one lane again.
Pull in to the "turn out" and you'll notice that it's pretty much a horse shoe turn around.
This is where you'll park. You'll see other cars.
This "turn out" is also across from the USNaval Rifle Range...you'll see a bright orange tower and a sign that says something like "SeeBees Can Do"...whatever.
Use your best judgment, you'll see other hikers, I assure you.
Once I'm there, you can't call me cuz my cell phone wont work till I get to the top.
